Scientists assess how changes in snowpack affect soil carbon and nutrient retention.
Biological sciences professor Caitlin Hicks Pries and Postdoctoral Researcher Joanna Ridgeway are conducting research at the Dartmouth Skiway to determine how winter climate change and more variable snowpack impacts soil carbon and nutrient retention in forests.
Part of the Dartmouth as Living Lab initiative, it's known as DEFROST, aka Determining Forest Responses to Snowmelt Treatments.
