Maria Hindt, Ph.D. student in the Molecular and Cell Biology Graduate Program, has been awarded a Graduate Alumni Research Award for her work on iron acquisition and storage in plants. Her work in the Prof. Mary Lou Guerinot's lab focuses on increasing the ability of plants to take up iron. Iron is an essential micronutrient in the human diet. Link to the full article.
